OK truth be told I'd read the reviews but still remained a bit sceptical that it would be up to the task I needed it for, jump starting a completely dead battery in my 18yo VW Golf but I purchased it with the opinion that worse case scenario I'd use it to charge mobile phone and tablet.So package arrives and I'm at once struck by size and weight, face on not much bigger the my Sony Xperia z5 compact mobile phone, about one and a half times as deep and weighing about the same. Modern design with on button and pack charge level indicator on front screen, charging port on side and torch feature, USB port and car charger cable port on top. Unit arrived with full charge indicated but I plugged it into mains (mains cable not supplied) for half an hour. Instructions were easy to follow and car charger cables seem sturdy enough with strong clamp, cable very short but not an issue in my case. Once connected to battery terminals you wait for green light then turn over your engine. First attempt resulted in nothing and I thought my scepticism justified, however I awaited the alloted time and tried again, this time the car burst into life. Took a drive in car to put some juice into the battery but needed to stop for cash and fuel. Had to use the unit each time and car started each time. 4 restarts in all and unit showed 75% charge left. I've now got my mobile phone charging.To summarise the FlyHi portable jump starter is a modern, compact unit, easily capable of jump starting the engine of a 18yo VW Golf with a completely flat battery. Additional features are a bonus. Excellent product. Great value for money. Highly recommend this product.Read more
